Forgiveness is one of the hardest things as humans we struggle with. Trust me I know! But with forgiveness comes freedom! We can’t go back and change the past or the wrong that was done to us, but we can learn how to forgive those who wronged us or forgive ourselves for our own past mistakes and take back your life! I know that people say that you have to heal yourself for you own mental health and yes that’s true BUT..this is the part that most don’t want to hear, in order to heal yourself mentally you have to learn how to forgive! You will not ever truly be healed until you learn how to forgive!

The one thing I’m learning through all of my struggles with Clayton is forgiving him for all the wrong! And trust me it’s a battle I face everyday no matter if we are getting along or not! Having freedom is so important to everyone! Clayton has put me through the ringer! He has gone through my phone and still will if he gets the chance, which is not a big deal but there is a line of respect. I’ve never done that to him so I except the same from him, he poisoned my dogs because I had them from my previous marriage, he has kept my car on empty so I couldn’t leave the house, kept money from me, the list goes on and on. The one thing that God has taught me and showed me is that I have forgive him for everything in order for me to heal mentally and emotionally. As I sit here typing this and it’s happened with every one of my other posts the feelings come rushing back from those moments that I’m sharing with you and man it’s hard for me! I have to keep stopping and take a second the pain is still there. God is here holding my hand as I type this and tell my story! And He is with each of you as well, waiting for you to take His hand.

St John Paul the Great said ” Forgiveness is the restoration of freedom to oneself: It is the key held in our own hand to our prison cell” The Bible has a lot of scriptures about forgiveness. Ex: Joseph and his brothers- Genesis 50:15-21, The father of the wayward son-Luke 15:17-24, and the most important forgiveness written is Jesus and His enemies- Luke 23:34. If Jesus can forgive the ones who persecuted Him then I feel very confident in all of us that we have the heart to forgive those who wrong us that’s where the real healing begins! Read your Bible or go buy one if you don’t have one. God will help you! He’s waiting to help you all you have to do is ask and He’ll be right there!

” He does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities. For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.” Psalm 103:10-12

You see God doesn’t hold our past mistakes toward Him or others against us as long as we ask Him for forgiveness. We are given second chances over and over! That’s the beauty of God’s love! His mercy and grace will follow us all the days of our lives! We need to love as Jesus did even to those who persecuted Him. It’s not easy, I struggle everyday! I found myself whispering “love like Jesus, love like Jesus” it helps me! It really does! Jesus is standing there hearing my words and is ready to jump in and help! He wants to do the same for you! Just ask Him!
