Reap What You Sow

Reap What You Sow

Have you heard the saying ” Life is what you make it”, or “You reap what you sow”. There really is so much truth to that! If you wake up and choose to be sad or mad everyday then your day may not go very well. You may make your co-workers or a friend upset with you or you may get hurt or lose your job. You’re going to reap what you sow. If you wake up and choose happiness then maybe you’re the light that a sad co-worker or a friend needed to make their day better, maybe you get a rise or maybe you’re just an amazing day, again you will reap what you sow. There is also another saying ” You are who you’re with”. This one really hit home to me when I was in my 20’s. If you’re with someone who spends money like it grows on trees or someone who is always seeing the glass half empty, or even just the opposite of these. Someone who saves money and see the glass half full. I’ve learned and seen it with myself first hand that you too will become just like that! You may find yourself being someone people don’t recognize anymore, and that could be good or bad.

Clayton is a very negative man! Always waiting for the next bad thing to happen. And worried about everything! Ready to sell whatever he can before working at a solution and then regretting making the sell to pay the bill.   I realized that he was dragging me down that rabbit hole! I was sad and depressed all the time! It wasn’t until about 4 yrs ago that I drugged myself out. I cried out to God for help! And He did just that! When trials come I talk to God and tell Him what’s going on and how I’m feeling and ask for strength and guidance. I try very hard to lay my burdens down at His feet and not pick them back up. Sometimes I do without realizing what I did.  I do worry but try and stop myself and repeat what Jesus said ” Don’t worry about tomorrow today has it’s own troubles” and that gets me through. Over the weekend I read some scriptures to Clayton. The book of James 1:2-8 it’s about asking for wisdom. I explained or tried to anyway,  that this is why I always tell him not to worry it’s all going to work out! And I hoped that he would remind himself of these verses whenever he started worrying.  I told him that Jesus is waiting for Clayton to come to Him and be free, and just ask for help and keep the trust and faith that God will bring him through it all like He has in the past!

Saturday we were traveling to Rose’s last cheer football game and I love the old country music I grew up on. So the whole hour and a half down there and back I was singing and sometimes I would sing to him! Just keeping things light. I’ve learned over the years that if I play lightly with Clayton he will smile and play back and he’s just a different man! Juice Newton’s song ” Just Call Me Angel of the Morning Angel” came on! I love love me some Juice Newton! Look her up!  Anyway, part of the song says ” just touch my check before you leave me baby and slowly turn away from me” well I would touch Clayton’s cheek while he was driving and sing that to him. All that evening when he would leave the room he would walk over and touch my cheek! We would just laugh! I went to bed before him and he came in and when he left the room he did it again. It’s those moments that I absolutely love and wish that Clayton could be that light hearted all the time! Those times for me are what bring a man and wife closer together! Things can’t be all mad and angry all the time! Life is hard enough without all the extra worry we can bring on ourselves!
