How Was Your Easter?

So it’s Easter weekend, lots of plans, lots of family. And ‘ol Clayton is up to his normal hateful self! When it comes to my family he’s just out! And always has bad things to say! I mean this is the weekend Jesus rose from the grave!! It’s a time of celebration! A time for family and making memories! Jesus didn’t die for us to mean and hateful to each other! He died for us to love one other as He did, and does!

I waited until Friday night to fill Clayton in on the weekend activities. It wasn’t on purpose. A lot had been going on earlier in the week and ended with my mom in ER. She’s fine now. But I just actually forgot! So he starts in about how he has told Rose and me that every weekend before she can go anywhere or even have a friend over she has to pull weeds! And he is very serious about this. Like his jaws are clinching and he’s talking through he teeth! I told him that was okay I didn’t know why he was getting so mad! Well he was mad that I waited til the last minute and he’s mad because I wasn’t taking him seriously about her pulling weeds. I told him that he was being too much about the weeds. I mean they aren’t bad and he just needed to spray them more. He really was overreacting! It was bringing back some childhood trauma for me.

I know that kids need to do chores. I get that. We teach them as they grow up so they know how to live without you. Every weekend me and Haley and Preston cleaned the house together. It wasn’t them doing chores while I watched. Now I will admit that I have dropped the ball with Rose. And yes I’m paying for it now. Everything is a fight with her. But it’s getting better. Clayton is limited on what he can do now. And I understand that too. But to get so worked up to the point your chest hurts is just too much! So, I got up and went to Wal-mart to get the things we needed for a pie we were going to make later and was home by 7:30am and needless to say by 9:30am the weeds were pulled, the yard was mowed, Rose cleaned her bathroom and bedroom. Everything on his list plus extra was done! There was no reason to get so worked up.

I remember as a child my mom making me and my older sister clean the living room and the bathroom every Saturday. Which at the time was torture it felt like. But I remember my mom something just sitting on the couch. Her job was the kitchen and bless her heart now that I look back the more she cleaned it the worse it got. I guess she was going through things and trying to straighten up. We all know what it’s like to start to clean a room and it ends worse than when you started due to you throwing things away and trying to get it all organized. But even when I was working full time I would still have to come home and clean before I could go out with my boyfriend. And after working eight hours in a restaurant then having to come home and clean more was just frustrating for me! Especially when she was home all day. So when Clayton was acting crazy over the weeds it really struck a nerve. So I’ll be out there every weekend bright and early with Rose pulling weeds and mowing and teaching her how to be self sufficient.

So we got the yard work done, house work done, got Rose to her volleyball game and was able to come home and rest before the festivities at my sisters began. We did crafts, made a Reese peanut butter pie and colored eggs! The day ended better than it began.  Sunday we all went to church (except Clayton) celebrated our Lord and Savior and had a great Sunday afternoon with lunch and just being a family.
